We Are The World 25 For Haiti Official Music Video Premiers

During the Opening Ceremony of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics on NBC, “We Are The World 25 For Haiti Official Music Video” was launched featuring over 80 artists and performers. Quincy Jones and Lionel Richie brought artists from different genre for this remake.
It was last February 28, 1985, when “We Are the World” was first launched as a song and charity single originally recorded by the supergroup USA for Africa. It was written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie, and co-produced by Quincy Jones and Michael Omartian for the album We Are the World. The historic event brought together some of the most famous artists in the music industry at the time.
New generation singers recorded this remake last February 1st, 2010 in the same studio as the original 25 years earlier, in which Jones and Richie serve as executive producers and producers, in collaboration with executive producers Wyclef Jean, Randy Phillips and Peter Tortorici; producers Humberto Gattica and RedOne; and co-producers Rickey Minor, Mervyn Warren and Patti Austin. None of the singers from the original were included except for the late Michael Jackson joined by his sister Janet. Artists who wholeheartedly participated, regardless of genre or generation came together for the benefit of the Haitian earthquake relief efforts and the rebuilding of Haiti.
