According to Billboard.com, Spears also debuted at no.1 when “3″ was released in October 2009. Carey has debuted at no. 1 three times—twice in 1995 with “Fantasy” and “One Sweet Day,” then in 1997 with “Honey.”

“Hold it Against Me” also bowed at no.1 in the Digital Songs chart with 411,000 paid downloads based on Nielsen SoundScan data. The track’s first week digital sales also erased the record for a lead female artist previously held by Taylor Swift, whose “Today Was a Fairytale” debuted in February last year with 325,000 sales in its first week.

“Hold it Against Me,” the first single from Spears’ upcoming seventh studio album, is the 29-year-old’s fourth song to peak at no.1.

A day after it was officially released, “Hold it Against Me,” Spears’ latest single, has already reached number one on iTunes’ best-seller list, proving that the 29-year-old singer still has her star power more than a decade since “Baby One More Time” hit the airwaves.

“Hold it Against Me” is also performing well on radio, with Reuters reporting that the track is already the 16th most-played song on the airwaves. At Los Angeles radio KIIS, Spears is already the most requested song in the station, music director Julie Pilat tells Reuters. “Looking at the feedback we got on Twitter, the responses range from ‘BEST SONG EVER’ to ‘Can’t get enough of the new Britney’ to ‘I need this song to breathe!’ Undoubtedly, Britney is back and on her way to another No. 1 single.”

How “Hold it Against Me” will hold up against the existing hits will be known when Billboard releases its highly popular charts in the coming days. For now, though, it is safe to say that “Hold it Against Me” is a success for Spears.

Britney is very excited  as her new single will finally be heard on  Tuesday.

“Heard an early demo of my new single leaked. If u think that’s good, wait til you hear the real one Tuesday,” the 29-year-old pop star tweeted.

Spears, 29, has been busy working on her seventh studio album, which will come out on  March 2011. The album was produced by hitmakers Max Martin and Dr. Luke.

Luke  described Britney’s new sound as harder, electronic, and grimier — recently teased on Twitter: “The first word of the Britney song is ‘hey’… The 3rd word is ‘there’… Hey over there… please (4th word)… forgive (5th).”

In a statement, Spears’ manager Larry Rudolph said that Alexander’s purported recording of a conversation with Spears was fabricated. Earlier, Alexander, who married Spears in January 2004 before the marriage was annulled 55 hours later, claimed in an interview with Star magazine that his ex-wife confessed to being physically abused by Trawick.

Rudolph said there was no truth to the rumor and the voice in the purported recorded conversation is not Spears’ at all. “The statements attributed to Jason Alexander are a complete fabrication as Britney has not had any form of communication with Mr. Alexander in years. The audio recording posted on Radaronline this morning purporting to be between Britney Spears and Jason Alexander is so obviously fake as to be laughable.”

The controversy comes a day before Spears, who has been working hard to craft a new image, celebrates her 29th birthday.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Reva Goetz ruled that it would be best for Spears that her father, Jamie, remain in charge of her personal and financial affairs. Goetz reached the decision after meeting alone with the 28-year-old Spears and later with her father.

The conservatorship was imposed in February 2008 after Spears, in the middle of a custody battle for her two sons with dancer Kevin Federline, went on a downward spiral. She underwent psychiatric treatment at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center for about a week and tried to fight the conservatorship, but her appeal was denied.

Since last year, Spears showed that she can stay out of trouble and take control of her career, headlining a highly successful tour, “The Circus Starring Britney Spears,” which grossed more than $131 million, and releasing her second greatest hits album, “The Singles Collection.” Recently, she appeared on the popular TV series, “Glee,” where five of her songs were featured in the episode “Britney/Brittany.”

“Toxic” hitmaker Britney spears has shown in episode 2 of Glee’s second season that she still have it.

It was supposedly Madonna’s “Glee” tribute episode  also and should  have been titled “The Power of Madonna,” however it was the show’s tribute to Britney Spears  that surfaced.

The episode has featured cameos from the pop princess herself, and gained 13.3 million viewers, leading the 8 p.m. hour and posting its best-ever rating among adults 18-49.

The Gleeks assignment was to tap into their inner pop star to make renditions of the singer’s hits, including ” … Baby One More Time” and “Me Against the Music.”

Meanwhile, Britney was also happy with the result, posting on her Twitter, “I loved it! Thank you guys SO much for making this happen!” she tweeted. The pop princess also gave props to the many song and video re-creations, including “I’m a Slave 4 U,” saying, “Slave: Oh … My … God …! Those little boys are SO cute! I know how hard it is to dance with that snake! Nice job.”

Lea Michele did a good job singing Paramore’s “The only exception” as the show ends, dedicating the song to her boyfriend.

The bodyguard of Britney Spears has  accused the singer of harassing him sexually.

Former police officer Fernando Flores, he left his work for the “Ooops I did it Again” hitmaker after the constant orders to enter her bedroom and paraded without clotes on in front of him.

Flores  considers filing sexual harassment charges against his previous employer,  according to Britain’s The Sun newspaper.

A source tells the publication, “She was always giving him the come on and he felt if he didn’t reciprocate he could lose his job. He finally handed in his notice last week and is considering legal action.”

“Working for Britney is tough. She’s a nightmare to deal with and her emotions are totally out of control. She runs round the house naked and yelling at staff. All her guards knew they could be removed if they looked at her the wrong way.”

“Unfortunately for Fernando, she took a liking to him, so he was under more pressure than most. He wanted to be a good security guard and look after her but the situation became unbearable.”

In early part of 2008, pop star Britney has put her Beverly Hills home on the market with an increase price of $7.9 million before the world economic crisis.

Unfortunately, until now, the mansion is still on the market,   because of this,  Britney slashed the price to $4.85 million, according to website RealEstalker.com.  The mark down will cause Spears to lose $1.9 million on the property.

This is not a surprising news since Britney is not the only celebrity to cut down the price of her property just to sell it.

Previously, Ronnie Wood was also forced to drop the price of his 11.6 million-dollar home by $2.3 million, putting it on market for $9.3 million.

Joey Kramer, Aerosmith’s drummer has made a massive 27 per cent loss on the recent sale of his home in Massachusetts.  After 19 months, the property waqs finally sold for $2.7 million, the original asking price was $5 million.

After doing a Madonna episode on April 20, Glee is planning a Britney Spears episode this time.

Creator Ryan Murphy is considering the concept after Britney’s manager proposed the idea via Twitter on April 2.

“I’m interested in the Britney Spears  idea,” Ryan said.  “I’ve always loved her.  I think young kids would like that.”

Aside from Britney,  Ryan is also eyeing several calebrities like Billy Joel, Led Zeppelin and Courtney Love.

“I actually ran into Courtney Love the other day and talked to her,” he said.  “She’s interested. I would love to have the kids do a Courtney Love episode one day.”

Ryan is very inspired with any song as long as it has theatrical material.

Meanwhile, Jennifer Lopez is one celebrity who is not coming to the show any time soon.  Originally, she was on Ryan’s list, but the singer actress could not fit into the show since all 8 episodes were already planned out.

Jennifer Lopez waS kind of sad, “So he’s like, ‘Let’s wait and do it really right when you do come on.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, yeah whatever. I’m a huge fan. Whenever you want (me), I’m good.’ I kind of offered myself up,” J. Lo said.

Just recently, Britney Spears has  been banned from wearing clothes without a bra by her dad Jamie.

Her dad hates seeing pictures of her daughter with her nipples all over the place.   Britney’s dad is refusing to allow the If You Seek Amy singer to be caught in public without her bra on.

Her dad’s control over her life is so tremendous.   He is disgusted to see pictures of her with her private parts  somehow exposed.  It reached to a point where he has to ban her from going out of the house without a bra.

A source said : “He wants her to put across the right impression.  One security guard was told he was about to lose his job because he lets her go out without her bra.”

On the other hand,  the production of  popular tv series Glee is planning on doing a cover of Britney’s hits to follow the success of the Madonna tribute episode.
