“Survivor: Nicaragua” Kicks Out 1st Castaway
The initial tribal council of “Survivor: Nicaragua” did not go well for goat rancher Wendy DeSmidt-Kohloff as she suffered the ignominy of becoming the first person to leave the island of San Juan del Sur in Nicaragua.
DeSmidt-Kohloff, 48, was voted off by her tribe mates in Espada tribe for being the weakest and weirdest at the same time. “I don’t feel like I connected very well with the people here,” DeSmidt-Kohloff from Fromberg, Montana, said after the season premiere of “Survivor: Nicaragua.”
De-Smidt-Kohloff’s elimination followed the older Espada tribe’s loss in the immunity challenge, where the younger La Flor tribe won by filling buckets of water through gutters.
Former NFL coach Jimmy Johnson, 67, escaped elimination by using his talking skills to convince his tribe mates to save him. “I’m going to be a target every single tribal council,” Johnson, a former Dallas Cowboys and Miami Dolphins coach, said. DeSmidt-Kohloff received nine votes while Yve Rojas of Kansas City, Missouri, received one vote.
