what most people don't realize is that their names are just brands… something for the public to buy into like any other manufacturer putting things out there to sell. listen to the radio. how many songs of substance are played? the industry dictates what is put out there, and if you want to get paid, you put out what they tell you… and prayerfully with that 2nd or 3rd project you can have more creativity and freedom to put out the kind of music you want to make.

i know this young man and he was nothing like the image and lyrics portrayed but, unfortunately, perception is reality. he was extremely talented lyrically and was always making non-commercial music. i just pray that his family is able to get that music released… a lot of people WILL BE SURPRISED.

the rappers and the music industry are not to blame for kids idolizing this lifestyle… the parents are. stop letting the television and iPods babysit your kids. give them other things to occupy their time, like family functions(dinner, games, outings). granted, with the economy the way it is, most parents work outside of the home- they have to. but if you're not there to influence your children, then something/ someone else is. you then have to do damage control… watch what they watch and find out why that so excites and intrigues them. and then you give them the ugly truth about it. don't let them grow up harboring the glitzy half truth.

the bottom line… “DOLLA” is a brand like any other. Roderick Burton is a young man, a real person with family and friends that love and miss him dearly.
I'm sure its hard but, don't be so judgemental on the side you see.

What has violence ever accomplished? No wrongs have ever been righted by senseless violence. Violence has no race, age or religious preference. The victims are simply human beings trying to get by.

To often we honor swagger and bluster at the expense of kindness and humility. We still have not achieved that common bond of humanity that Martin and Bobby so often called for.
