Patrick Dempsey Prepares for “Transformers 3″

“Mc Dreamy” Patrick Dempsey is getting ready to star next to Optimus Prime.

The actor confirms that he is joining “Transformers 3.”

Dempsey has indeed joined the cast of the blockbuster sequel.  Along with Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox for their third-go at the summer box office, which is scheduled for release on July 1st, 2011.

Michael Bay is primed to return for the new installment. Dempsey said he’ll go behind the cameras mid-summer. He added that he’ll play a darker character.

The first “Transformers” made over $700 million in box-office world wide, wereas the 2009 sequel “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” grossed over $800 million.

Dempsey last starred in the comedy flick “Valentine’s Day,” and the romantic comedies “Made of Honor” and Disney’s “Enchanted.” He last joined a franchise in its third installment when he starred in 2000′s “Scream 3.”
