Natasha Richardson dies after ski fall

British actress Natasha Richardson died Wednesday night after being removed from life support at a New York hospital, the Daily Contributor reports.
In a released statement, a family spokesman said, “Liam Neeson, his sons, and the entire family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Natasha. They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time.”
The Tony Award winner was hospitalized Monday in Montreal after a fall during a ski lesson. Richardson, accompanied by her husband, Liam Neeson, was flown Tuesday to New York, and admitted to Manhattan’s Lenox Hill Hospital, where she was pronounced brain dead .
She began her career in regional theatre, at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds, England. In 1998 she won a Tony Award for her performance in “Cabaret.”
She was also known for her roles in the films “Maid in Manhattan,” “The Parent Trap,” and “The Handmaid’s Tale.”
