M.I.A. gives birth to a son

M.I.A. has given birth to her first child!

The British rapper (whose given name is Mathangi Arulpragasam) gave birth to a boy in Los Angeles on Wednesday, according to PEOPLE.

The “Paper Planes” singer performed alongside Kanye West, Jay-Z, T.I. and Lil Wayne at the Grammys last Sunday despite the fact she is nine months pregnant.

Next Sunday, Feb. 22, she is expected at the Academy Awards to perform “O Saya,” from Oscar frontrunner “Slumdog Millionaire”– which is in nominated for Best Song.
