Kirsten Dunst Purse Snatcher Sentenced 4 Years
A 36-year-old mechanic would be spending the next four years in jail after he was found guilty of burglary and trespassing, including stealing actress Kirsten Dunst‘s $2,000 Balenciaga purse.
Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Jill Konviser issued the ruling against James Jimenez on Tuesday after the jury found him guilty of entering Dunst’s room at the Soho Garden hotel in 2007, when the actress was in New York City to film “How to Lose Friends and Alienate People.” Aside from stealing Dunst’s purse, Jimenez was also found guilty of taking a cell phone from actor Simon Pegg, who also appeared in “How to Lose Friends.”
During the trial, Jimenez claimed that his co-accused, Jarrod Beinerman, was the one who stole Dunst’s purse when he was allowed to enter the actress’ room to allegedly sell drugs. Beinerman pleaded guilty in 2008. Robert Parker, Jimenez’s attorney, said that he would build a case against Dunst as “I don’t think there’s a person on this planet who would believe…she doesn’t smoke marijuana.” Dunst has denied the accusations.
