Iron Man 2 Scores $52M on Opening Day

Iron Man 2 managed to accummulate an estimated $52 million on its opening day in the US alone.

Iron Man 2 is expected to gross between $125-135 million over the three-day weekend — not much higher than Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland and considerably less than early estimates that reached as high as $160 million or whereabouts.

One record it has broken is the widest release ever. The film was shown in 4380 U.S. theaters.

Iron Man 2 was directed by Jon Favreau and stars Robert Downey Jr.
