Apple announced Gaga’s record-breaking act on Friday, less than a week since “Born This Way” zoomed to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 Singles in its debut week and become the venerable chart tracker’s 1,000th number one. “Born This Way” is the first single of her upcoming album, which is set to be released in May. According to Apple, the track is number one in its iTunes stores in 23 countries.

It has been a very successful and busy week for the pop superstar, who outdid herself when she took the Grammy Awards red carpet inside a giant egg, where she literally hatched before performing her latest hit. She also took home a couple of trophies at the awards show for Best Pop Vocal Album (The Fame Monster) and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance (Bad Romance).

2011 Grammy Awards Live Stream: You can watch the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards live tonight (February 13) on CBS at 8PM ET/PT from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Eminem is the leading Grammy nominated artist with 10 nods this year including the coveted “Album of the Year” nomination for his seventh studio album “RECOVERY”. The rapper’s album is the biggest selling album in the US for 2010 and it debuted at No. 1 on the US Billboard 200 chart, selling 741,000 copies in its first week.

Bruno Mars who’s been nominated for seven Grammys including “Song of the Year” came in second to Eminem. His debut single, “Just The Way You Are,” has generated over 90 million views on YouTube, and his collaborations with other Grammy nominees resulted in some of the year’s biggest hits.

Jay-Z, Lady Antebellum, and Lady Gaga on the other hand earned six nods each while Drake, Mumford & Sons, Florence and the Machine, Justin Bieber and jazz bassist/singer Esperanza Spalding are nominated for best new artist.

Among those to honor the legendary Queen of Soul will be Yolanda Adams, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson, Martina McBride and Florence Welch. Franklin, 68, made her first public appearance since undergoing surgery when she turned out to watch the Miami Heat-Detroit Pistons match Friday night with Jesse Jackson.

A rep for the San Antonio Spurs guard Parker confirmed to People.com that the French player and the “Desperate Housewives” star are officially divorced as TMZ first reported. The divorce was finalized in Texas, where Parker filed his papers. Longoria reportedly withdrew last week the divorce petition she had filed last year in Los Angeles, saying that the Lone Star state was the right venue for the dissolution of their marriage as it is where the ex-couple’s pre-nuptial agreement was signed.

The couple suddenly separated in November allegedly due to Parker’s infidelity. Reports had said back then that Longoria, 35, found out that her former husband was cheating with Erin Barry, the then-wife of Parker’s teammate Brent Barry. Erin and Brent’s divorce was also finalized earlier this year.

Longoria and Parker were married in 2007 after more than two years of dating. It is the second divorce for Longoria, who was married to “General Hospital” actor Tyler Christopher from 2002 to 2004.

The film, which features Hopkins as Father Lucas, a priest who gets possessed following the death of one of his exorcism patients, dislodged the R-rated romantic comedy “No Strings Attached” from the top spot. “No Strings Attached,” which stars Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher, collected $13.65 million to push its two-week total to $39.7 million. “The Green Hornet” remained strong in its third week with $11.5 million, which gave the Seth Rogen superhero movie $78.8 million.

The week’s only other new release, Jason Statham’s “The Mechanic,” performed better than expected with also $11.5 million to tie “Green Hornet” at fourth place. Academy Award contenders “The King’s Speech,” “True Grit,” “Black Swan,” and “The Fighter” stayed relevant heading into the February 27 Oscars as they grabbed 5th, 6th, 8th, and 9th spots, respectively. “The Dilemma” took the seventh spot while “Yogi Bear” rounded out the top ten.

Director Zack Snyder announced the casting news on Sunday, saying that Cavill, best known for his role in the BBC mini-series “The Tudors,” is “perfect” for the role as Superman and his alter-ego Clark Kent. “I also join Warner Bros. and the producers in saying how excited we are about the casting of Henry. He is the perfect choice to don the cape and S shield,” Snyder, whose works include “300″ and “Watchmen,” said.

Although Cavill is relatively unknown, his entry into the Superman project was not entirely a surprise. According to BBC, Cavill missed out on a chance to don Superman’s cape years earlier when he was beaten by Brandon Routh to the plum role in Bryan Singer’s “Superman Returns” in 2006. Cavill, who played Albert Mondego in 2002′s “Count of Monte Cristo,” was also reportedly a frontrunner to star as Bruce Wayne in Chris Nolan’s “Batman” films but was eventually beaten to the role by Christian Bale.

A rep has confirmed that Cruz, 36, gave birth to her first child with husband Bardem, 41, on January 22 at the Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. “Penelope and Javier welcomed their first son into their family last week,” the rep said according to Usmagazine, adding that all members of the family “are doing great.” Some members of Cruz’s and Bardem’s families were also on hand when the baby boy was born, Usmagazine said. Among those who flew from Spain to give their moral support to Cruz were her mother, brother, and sister. Bardem’s mother also arrived from Spain to welcome her grandson, reports said.

Bardem and Cruz were secretly married in the Bahamas in July 2010 after dating for three years. Cruz and Bardem are both Oscar winners—she as Best Supporting Actress in 2008 for “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” and he as Best Supporting Actor for 2007′s “No Country for Old Men.”

In his court filings, Dell claimed that he deserves to have full custody of his daughter, Krishna Thea, as Lakshmi’s busy schedule and globetrotting ways prevents her from focusing on their daughter. Dell, a brother of Dell Inc founder Michael Dell, said that the “Top Chef” host is “either unable or unwilling to moderate either her social or business travel.” Dell, 41, also confirmed in the lawsuit that he is indeed the father of Krishna. Lakshmi gave birth to Krishna in February last year without revealing the identity of his father. Dell and Lakshmi had already broken up at the time the baby was born, the lawsuit revealed.

Lakshmi’s camp has denied Dell’s allegations regarding her lack of time for her daughter, with the celebrity cookbook author’s lawyer describing the suit as “inaccurate and misleading.”
