Cynthia Nixon engaged to girlfriend

The Sex and the City star, Cynthia Nixon, finally announced her engagement to girlfriend Christine Marinoni at Love, Peace and Marriage Equality rally for gay rights in New York on Sunday. The event supported the proposed bill by New York Governor David Paterson that would grant legal equality to same sex unions.

The couple has been dating since 2003 and became engaged last month.

Last Year, Nixon has said that she would only get married if it became legal in New York.

“I don’t really want to get married to get married pretend. I think we’d like to do it in a real, actual, legal way that the state would recognize.”

Nixon has two children, 12-year old Samantha and 6-year old Charles, from her previous marriage with English professor Danny Mozes.
