Apple announced Gaga’s record-breaking act on Friday, less than a week since “Born This Way” zoomed to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 Singles in its debut week and become the venerable chart tracker’s 1,000th number one. “Born This Way” is the first single of her upcoming album, which is set to be released in May. According to Apple, the track is number one in its iTunes stores in 23 countries.

It has been a very successful and busy week for the pop superstar, who outdid herself when she took the Grammy Awards red carpet inside a giant egg, where she literally hatched before performing her latest hit. She also took home a couple of trophies at the awards show for Best Pop Vocal Album (The Fame Monster) and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance (Bad Romance).

2011 Grammy Awards Live Stream: You can watch the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards live tonight (February 13) on CBS at 8PM ET/PT from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Eminem is the leading Grammy nominated artist with 10 nods this year including the coveted “Album of the Year” nomination for his seventh studio album “RECOVERY”. The rapper’s album is the biggest selling album in the US for 2010 and it debuted at No. 1 on the US Billboard 200 chart, selling 741,000 copies in its first week.

Bruno Mars who’s been nominated for seven Grammys including “Song of the Year” came in second to Eminem. His debut single, “Just The Way You Are,” has generated over 90 million views on YouTube, and his collaborations with other Grammy nominees resulted in some of the year’s biggest hits.

Jay-Z, Lady Antebellum, and Lady Gaga on the other hand earned six nods each while Drake, Mumford & Sons, Florence and the Machine, Justin Bieber and jazz bassist/singer Esperanza Spalding are nominated for best new artist.

Exciting performances will be delivered by Eminem, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Drake, Arcade Fire, Christina Aguilera, Muse, Usher, Bob Dylan and Bruno Mars.

Mick Jagger and Barbra Streisand, the recipient of the MusiCares Person of the Year award, will also make vocal contributions. And with Katy Perry performing her current hit Firework, special effects from the arena should literally be explosive.

A special tribute will also be given for Aretha Franklin. Among those to honor the legendary Queen of Soul will be Yolanda Adams, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson, Martina McBride and Florence Welch. Franklin, 68, made her first public appearance since undergoing surgery when she turned out to watch the Miami Heat-Detroit Pistons match Friday night with Jesse Jackson.

According to Billboard.com, Spears also debuted at no.1 when “3″ was released in October 2009. Carey has debuted at no. 1 three times—twice in 1995 with “Fantasy” and “One Sweet Day,” then in 1997 with “Honey.”

“Hold it Against Me” also bowed at no.1 in the Digital Songs chart with 411,000 paid downloads based on Nielsen SoundScan data. The track’s first week digital sales also erased the record for a lead female artist previously held by Taylor Swift, whose “Today Was a Fairytale” debuted in February last year with 325,000 sales in its first week.

“Hold it Against Me,” the first single from Spears’ upcoming seventh studio album, is the 29-year-old’s fourth song to peak at no.1.

Kings of Leon

Kings of Leon will be the headline act when the three-day festival kicks off on April 15. The multiplatinum-selling act from Tennessee will be joined on the first day of the festival by The Black Keys, Interpol, and Lauryn Hill, among others.

April 16 will see Arcade Fire take the stage along with Animal Collective, Mumford & Sons, Bright Eyes, and Erykah Badu. Kanye West and the Strokes will headline the finale day with Duran Duran, The National, and PJ Harvey among the other big names performing on April 17.

Tickets to the three-day event will start selling on January 21. Coachella is an annual music and art festival organized by AEG Live subsidiary Goldenvoice. Several acts perform simultaneously in several venues, which are scattered throughout the Empire Polo Fields with the Colorado Desert as backdrop.

A rep confirmed that the Canadian singer “was having trouble breathing,” causing a little drama on the set of the crime series, where Bieber will be making a second appearance in an episode to be shown next month. Panic quickly turned into relief, though, as Bieber’s doctor did not see a need to keep the 16-year-old pop star at the Providence St. Joseph’s Hospital in Burbank, California. A source also told Life and Style that Bieber “stayed at the hospital about 30 minutes and was discharged.”

Bieber’s rep said the singer is “fine now and back on set.” That is certainly good news considering that Bieber has been tapped as one of the presenters at the 68th Golden Globe Awards on Sunday.

A day after it was officially released, “Hold it Against Me,” Spears’ latest single, has already reached number one on iTunes’ best-seller list, proving that the 29-year-old singer still has her star power more than a decade since “Baby One More Time” hit the airwaves.

“Hold it Against Me” is also performing well on radio, with Reuters reporting that the track is already the 16th most-played song on the airwaves. At Los Angeles radio KIIS, Spears is already the most requested song in the station, music director Julie Pilat tells Reuters. “Looking at the feedback we got on Twitter, the responses range from ‘BEST SONG EVER’ to ‘Can’t get enough of the new Britney’ to ‘I need this song to breathe!’ Undoubtedly, Britney is back and on her way to another No. 1 single.”

How “Hold it Against Me” will hold up against the existing hits will be known when Billboard releases its highly popular charts in the coming days. For now, though, it is safe to say that “Hold it Against Me” is a success for Spears.

A source told Usmagazine that the couple did not fight before deciding to take a break from their long relationship. “There was no big drama, it’s just one of those things where they had been together a long time and realized they were more friends and business partners than lovers,” the source said.

“Glee” creator and executive producer Ryan Murphy shot down speculations that the Fox musical comedy would soon feature a Bieber-centric episode, saying that the Canadian teenager’s catalogue is not yet big enough to merit a tribute. Voters picked “Eclipse” as favorite movie and drama, while the film’s main stars—Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner—were voted favorite on-screen team. Stewart also bagged the favorite actress award. Meanwhile, misanthrope doctor Gregory House dominated the television side of the awards. Hugh Laurie, who plays Dr. Gregory House in the Fox series “House,” won favorite drama actor while Lisa Edelstein took the favorite drama actress honors as Dr. Lisa Cuddy. “House” was named favorite television drama, while Laurie’s character, Dr. Gregory House was named favorite TV doctor.

“Glee” took three awards, including favorite TV comedy. Jane Lynch and Neil Patrick Harris also won as favorite comedy actress and actor. Meanwhile, Eminem ruled the music category as he took home four awards. Eminem won as favorite male musician and hip-hop artist, while his collaboration with Rihanna, “Love the Way You Lie,” was named favorite song and music video.

Bieber, who was reportedly recently seen kissing rumored girlfriend Selena Gomez, talks about his fans, saying that he has no problem having mostly female fans. “For younger guys, it’s like [they think] they’re not cool if they come to my concert.
