Amanda Seyfried sets her own trend

“Dear John” actress Amanda Seyfried  appeared Monday night when she hit the red carpet at the “Mother and Child” premiere in a reversed version Bodyamr fall 2010 frock.

Seyfried made a bold move by wearing Bodyamr cocktail dress with the purple, zippered side facing forward.   Because of this move, fashion critics were somehow hurt.

According to New York Magazine’s The Cut : “Turning a dress around isn’t that crazy or inventive, it’s just awkward,” and  Red Carpet Fashion Awards commented: “This is smacking me right in the face that it’s the wrong way around, especially considering where the zipper stops. We ask for celebs to be more inventive on the red carpet, but this isn’t what I had in mind.” Ouch!

However, Seyfried’s not the first celebrity to do this stunt.  Angelina Jolie wore her Max Azria spring 2009 gown backward to the 2009 Screen Actors Guild Awards and got positive response.

Then Celine Dion in 1999  chose to do the opposite by wearing a back-to-front John Galliano for Dior white suit.
