67th Annual Golden Globe Awards Nominees Announced

The nominees for the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards have been announced, and dominating the list of contenders are the motion picture Up in the Air, with a total of six nominations, and television program Glee, with four nominations.
Up in the Air, the latest from Thank You for Smoking and Juno director Jason Reitman and starring George Clooney, is in the running for Best Motion Picture – Drama, against Avatar, The Hurt Locker, Inglourious Basterds, and Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire. Clooney, in turn, received a nod for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for his performance in the movie, along with Jeff Bridges (Crazy Heart), Colin Firth (A Single Man), Morgan Freeman (Invictus) and Tobey Maguire (Brothers). Up in the Air is also nominated for Best Director, Best Screenplay and twice for Best Supporting Actress (Vera Farmiga and Anna Kendricke).
Glee, arguably the most popular TV show to come out this year, is nominated for Best Television Series – Comedy or Musical. Competing in the same category are 30 Rock, Entourage, Modern Family and The Office. Three cast members of the musical comedy-drama, Lea Michele, Matthew Morrison and Jane Lynch, also received nods for their acting.
The nominees, listed below, were announced by Justin Timberlake, Diane Kruger and John Krasinski. The 67th Annual Golden Globes will air on January 17th, 2010, 8:00 p.m. EST live on NBC.
