2010 Academy Awards Nominations: the 82nd Oscar nominees are out!

Posted by Richard Neil Ilagan

The nominees for the 2010 Academy Awards are out! Anne Hathaway and Tom Sherak, the president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, read the Academy Awards nominees from the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, California just this morning.
This year’s repertoire of nominees features a somewhat nice twist – there are ten nominees under Best Picture this year, as opposed to previous Academy Awards. This year’s Best Picture nominees includes Iraq war-time movie “The Hurt Locker” and James Cameron’s animated epic “Avatar“, along with major front runners like “Inglourious Basterds”, “Up” and “District 9″.

Many speculate that the Best Picture category will only be a big race between “The Hurt Locker” and “Avatar”, with each garnering nine nominations each – the most nominations acquired by single entities in this year’s Academy Awards running.

A complete list of the 2010 Academy Awards nominations is available over on the Daily Contributor.
